Despite the barrage of criticisms which have continued to trail the on going 16th National Sports Festival in Kaduna , the Minister of Sports and Chairman of the National Sports Commission, NSC, Engineer Sani Ndanusa has declared that based on what he had seen so far, the organizers have been able to stage the best games ever.
Speaking to Sports Journalists, the minister explained that having been part of the national sports festival for the past fifteen years, he has enough experience and confidence to say that this is the best ever organized national sports festival.
Although he was reminded of the show which was put up by the Ogun state government when it hosted the 15th edition of the national sports festival, Ndanusa insisted that he was part of that festival but what has been presented by organizers of KADA 2009 was simply incomparable.
He said “Most of you witnessed the opening ceremony of KADA 2009 and would agree with me that it is one of the best sports festivals ever to hold in this country. I have been personally involved in National sports festivals for the past fifteen years. And I can not say anything less for Kaduna . I therefore want to use this opportunity to thank the government and people of Kaduna for this feat. They have picked up the challenge and excelled”.
The Minister went on to mention areas of excellence in organization of the games to include accommodation, Transportation, feeding, sporting facilities, security, medical and the general administration of the festival.
The minister insisted that some of the noticeable hitches in organization of the games were caused by the magnitude of the games as he maintained that no other national sports festival had attracted the kind of entries like the one at the current games.
Moreover, he said the National Sports Commission was test running some innovations which are all aimed at improving on past National Sports festivals and being new ideas, they were bound to come along with problems.
Ndanusa, however, assured that in due course, some of the problems which had attempted to take the shine off the 16th National Sports festival would be sorted out and there KADA 2009 would undoubtedly be the best games ever.
“What we have done here in Kaduna is that we have set a standard and in future, nobody will go below it in all facets including, accreditation, accommodation, technical, and facilities”.
