Barely two months in office, Civil Society Group has commended the Special Assistant to the President and Secretary of Agricultural and Rural Development Secretariat, Alhaji Hamza Adamu Buwai for his foresight in transforming the agricultural fortunes of the FCT since his assumption of office.
The commendation was contained in letter dated 17 June 2010 and made available to our correspondent in Abuja.
The letter signed by the Executive Coordinator of “Friends of FCT, Prince Nwazuruahu stated that the Special Assistant and Secretary of Agriculture should be commended for his visitations to the different Agricultural formations in the FCT including the leventis and FCT school of Agricultural, Yaba, the 11TA Kubwa and several others.
He further noted that, the visit was a positive departure from the norm where secretaries were more of armchair office manager which proved that the FCT has a working Agricultural secretary.
Buwai was also commended for his commitment to ensure utmost transparency in the allocation of subsidized farm inputs including farm machinery, fertilizers to genuine farmers no matter their economic status which he described as a welcome development.
The decision of the special Assistant to operate an open-Door Administrative policy where the civil society and other stakeholders will be allowed access to make unfettered and positive contributions to the development of agriculture in the FCT was also commended.
The group assured the Special Assistant of their total support to ensure his success in enthroning the culture of due diligence and openness towards laying foundation for the holistic transformation to the FCT agricultural sector.
